Ox can make a very pretty lawn (and almost totally mow-free!) I let clover take over a portion of the lawn (I might mow it once a month if that.) I found a 4-leaf clover in it last year :)
I see where you got snow??? Wow! I hope it didn't hurt (or ruin) too many things that are coming up.
I am shooting for an oxalis / ajuga yard. I will probably be in this house forever so I have time to make that happen- at least in the front; the back is absolutely a horse of a different color (although I have staked out about 5 square for a water feature!)
Good on the snow! And I just LOVE ajuga! I have been intentionally mowing around the patches we have of it for about 5 years now, and it's spreading each year, and it's so pretty (and I'm in hopes the ajuga will one day takes over that whole hill :)
My mom has let the ajuga take over her back yard; that totally eliminates mowing (her front yard is almost all flowers as well). I am following her lead. I found a patch of shamrock yesterday (it is under the compost bin- which one do I move?) that is growing with a purple oxalis; I do think that will be nice as well. By the way- I hate MOWING!

oh... about the snow- it hurt nothing; wasn't cold enough. :) Life is good.
