Ginger... an ingredient, a medicinal plant, a flower.

OK... I have decided to try my hand at growing some ginger from the rhizomes. I have a couple of very nice roots (I use a LOT of ginger at work) and I thought, what the heck, maybe a nice indoor plant. Has anyone grown ginger flowers from the root? I would love to hear what you have to say!

Here we go on another adventure...
(Psst.... Zoe... those are moonies in the corner :::wink:::)

your chunk of ginger can be cut up, and you can get at least 3 or 4 plants. I grew some outside. No flowers, but very nice crop of ginger roots.

I never knew you could grow ginger like that but it makes sense (kind of like growing a potato plant I guess!)
Now I'll be sinking Ginger in some dirt - LOL

And....LOL on "those are moonies in the corner".

The one time I got it to root it was more like an Iris.... I did leave a bit of the rhizome on top or close to the top of the soil. Wish me luck!

Good Morning.
I am a new one around here! I just saw your pots
with the ginger corms. I grow Ginger in the garden. At the end before the ginger is ready to harvest, it blooms, not spectacular but still it blooms. Good luck with the ginger it is an important plant! Trudi
